I wanted to share some thoughts that I think Mum would have wanted to share but given the sad circumstances of the illness was unable to. Foremost, thank you to Dad for his selfless caring and understanding; dedicating himself to making sure Mum was looked after so well in her own home until her final few weeks with us. A truer sense of love and devotion is difficult to imagine. In some of the darkest moments of life what truly matters and pure feelings often shine through. I could see that with my mum and dad; it was beautiful to see the loving moments that can still occur even when a person is suffering so much. Thank you to my auntie Jean and her family for being there when Dad needed people in emergency situations - in particular Vince who was able to lift and carry my mum when she fell at any time of day or night. His selfless response to help his uncle and aunt will never be forgotten by my family. Thank you to my brother for being there for Dad at the toughest time. I am so sad to miss her final moments, but I will always remember the lovely day last June when myself, mum, dad and Jasmine spent a wonderful day together looking through old pictures. Mum understood and was there right up until the end. I will also remember that in my Mum's mind my beard was as liked as the crows in the garden (pretty down there at the bottom) and the way her face lit up the room when I walked in that June day. Finally thank you to all of you who took time out of your lives to pop in and see Mum - however she was in the moment the family knows how much this would have meant to her. Love to my mum Nick
